Question by erica_a_quintero: Best photo scanner? Need to scan pictures but want a good portable scanner.?
We are having a family reunion and are going to be going from house to house and put all family photos on a dvd. We’re going to go to each family members house so we don’t have any issues where people don’t get their photos back. We want a GOOD portable scanner that we can carry with us. We wouldn’t be doing any editing then it would all be done at a later time once we’ve gather photos. Ideally we would want to name then right away.

Answer by Fraud Since you will be shooting in a digicam, why do you require a scanner. And if you shooting on a film, why not think in terms of shooting on a digicam, where all you have to do is transfer the file onto the hard disk. There is no reasonably priced portable scanner – don’t invest in it. Instead, if you have to, buy a good digi cam instead. You will get good results in available light and ready made portraits.

Answer by lensmen2 Look at the Epson V-500 scanner..
The term – best – is relative.. However, if you look for the highest OPTICAL resolution and the highest D-MAX, these 2 features will assure good scans. There are other factors as well. Speed. Hook up ability to your computer and so forth.

Answer by Albert W Hi There,
There are many choices for flatbed scanners these days. Most likely any name brand scanner would work for you.
I would suggest the Canon LIDE 110 for $ 60- (from the Canon site…link below).
It works with Windows 7,Windows Vista, Windows XP , Windows Vista , Windows XP and Mac OS X v10.4.11 to v10.6
There is only one cable to plug in (USB cable for data and power) and this scanner is very small but can scan9.9″ (W) x 14.6″ (D) documents. The scanner is only 1.6 inches high.
The Canoscan software is easy to use and setup is very easy.

Question by -Detroit-: What’s the best photo scanner?
I’m looking for a high quality scanner to scan photographs. Money is not a particular issue as much as quality is. Is there an industry standard photographers use or does anybody know of an outstanding photo scanner?

Question by Brad Bradley: What is the best photo scanner I can get for a price range of 0$ -200$ ?
200$ is as much as I would go, but I can not make a choice there are so much photo scanners in that price ranger, could I get any suggestion?

Answer by deonejuan $ 50 is what I would put out, tops. Scanners are all pretty much the same, they are dependent on their software for the result. Most scanners work as a plug-in that opens the scan in a photo program, such as PhotoShop. Web graphics are 96 dpi max. A fax scan is 200 dpi. Most computer graphics work well at 300 dpi. You don’t need a scanner that does 4000 dpi unless you enjoy archiving paper currency or fancy stock certificates.
In a scanner, you definitely want USB connectivity. I recently replaced a perfectly good and functional backlit scannner that had no NT or XP driver. The new scanner is USB, CanonScan for just under $ 50. I never used the backlit feature of the older device but maybe once or twice.
