I just got a bunch of pictures from my mother from a long time ago, and I would like to digitize them just to have a backup of them, just in case. What is a good scanner for quickly scanning these and the quality is good. I thought I remember seeing on QVC a while back that there was one that was just dedicated to photos, that you just pushed them in and shot them out the other side and saved them automatically, so it was really quick and painless. Somthing like that would be great.

Question by erica_a_quintero: Best photo scanner? Need to scan pictures but want a good portable scanner.?
We are having a family reunion and are going to be going from house to house and put all family photos on a dvd. We’re going to go to each family members house so we don’t have any issues where people don’t get their photos back. We want a GOOD portable scanner that we can carry with us. We wouldn’t be doing any editing then it would all be done at a later time once we’ve gather photos. Ideally we would want to name then right away.

Answer by Fraud Since you will be shooting in a digicam, why do you require a scanner. And if you shooting on a film, why not think in terms of shooting on a digicam, where all you have to do is transfer the file onto the hard disk. There is no reasonably priced portable scanner – don’t invest in it. Instead, if you have to, buy a good digi cam instead. You will get good results in available light and ready made portraits.

Question by night_train_to_memphis: Is there a photo scanner that’s good for scanning negatives of odd sizes?
The size in mind is about three and nine-sixteenths inches by two and seven-sixteenths inches. If not, are there any tricks I can use like putting a mirror on top of it, scanning it as a photo, and taking a negative of the negative?
Even the most basic or obvious suggestions are welcome.

Question by Bright: Can anyone suggest a good All in one photo, scanner, copier, fax with a scanner that is 11 x 14 or better?
I have an HP Photosmart All in one 7100 that is dying. I need an all in one that can print decent photos, but has a scanner 11 x 14 or bigger? I’m thinking maybe an officejet printer? I would like one with an auto document feeder, if possible. Anyone have any suggestions? Please give model #’s.

Answer by quntmphys238 If you’re not worried about cost of operating as far as supplies and stuff, stay with HP. However, just a helpful bit of info, Kodak supplies are much less expensive. A pack of toner/ink/whatever for HP printers will usually run about 30-40% more than the same part for Kodak scanners/printers. Also, Kodak is the picture company so their quality regarding photos and photo paper, etc does not lack compared to HP’s.
I guess I am just weird and have no use for a scanner, so i do not own one. However, my mom and a couple of my sisters are all into the photo printing and sharing thing and they all have Kodak All-in-Ones. Not sure of model numbers, sorry.
